I wish to move and keep moving on
There comes a comma, makes me pause.
I relax to rest, but the ellipses retort:
“The journey’s not over yet…c’mon trot…”
The journey resumes full force when
There comes a full-stop, makes me halt.
Halting when I want to run
Moving when I wish to halt
Life’s gone doing and undoing
All the commas and the full stops.
The question marks are all that I have
With answers none, not even sought
(Answers lie in joyous exclamation marks
Within this hyphened life lived by the dots)

Added the last two lines to avoid pessimistic dark thoughts.
In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: By the Dots
“We all have strange relationships with punctuation — do you overuse exclamation marks? Do you avoid semicolons like the plague? What type of punctuation could you never live without? Tell us all about your punctuation quirks!”
